What, you don't like Dexter?   :-\

Mostly, that comment was regarding the Tudors!

Today I learned:

If you brought the Sun down to the size of a white blood cell (7 micrometres), and then brought everything else down to scale, our galaxy, the Milky Way, would be the size of the continental U.S.A.

and,

A spiral stair case's spin direction depends on which end (top or bottom) you are defending.

Back in the day, all knights were right handed. If you were defending the top of a tower, the staircase leading up rotates to the right, or clockwise, so that the attacker (coming from the bottom) has to make a continuous right turn. Its very hard for an attacking knight to strike around a right hand corner with his right hand while defending with a shield in his left hand. However, it is very easy for the defending knight at the top to strike around a left hand corner with his right hand, holding a shield in his left hand.

The same is true for spiral staircases that lead down into a basement from the main entrance level, except that the stairs rotate in the opposite direction so that you can defend the bottom.

Interesting. I had read in atleast one cute little book that stated left-handed warriors were of particularly high value in some cultures
(Aztecs).

Get you a lefty to lead the way up those stairs!

Yup, that's why left-handed mercenaries were in so much demand. The more you know!  8)

and the Random Thoughts thread.

I'm still mostly just in a struggle to keep my mood from spiraling down but I have solutions finally.

All the tea I can possibly drink, staying up all night although tomorrow is my final (i'll be fine; i'm fucking smart and this class is basically a copy of another class i did well in)

watching Cowboy Bebop the entire way through and surfing homestar runner, looking for the techno chocolate.

i think my parents have stopped randomly ridiculing me. its been over a month.

all i need now is to be healthy again and get a stegosaurus for a pet.

I feel much cooler about being a lefty now even though I have no stairs to defend... and skinny chicken arms.

A few months ago I had to have a bunch of tests run on my boobies 'cause there were cysts in them and stuff.  Turns out, they were caused by the massive amount of caffeine I was ingesting, so I quit soda and coffee cold turkey.  Tonight, I had one of those Java Monster drinks and a regular cup of black coffee.  I am wide awake and cleaning the FUCK out of my house at 5:30 in the morning.

Granted, probably shouldn't do this all the time, but I haven't been this productive in a while.  Woo! :)

According to tradition, watermelons or any kind of pumpkin kept more than ten days or after Christmas will become a vampire, rolling around on the ground and growling to pester the living. People have little fear of the vampire pumpkins and melons because of the creatures' lack of teeth.

Pure genius.
