I might have found my husband and I someone to play Pathfinder with regularly once he gets home, and I got free kids books today for our little boy!

and Yesterday, I started DMing a campaign, its just me and my husband and we are playing over the phone but I'm super proud of my progress as a DM, still have a long way to go but I'm getting there!  :D

We got an agreement from a lovely family to buy our house yesterday afternoon! I was here when they came for the showing so I remember exactly who they are. The mother (who the house is for, she looks to be in her 80's) had this calm, quiet sense of joy in her eyes when she came out of the house and looked over our back yard.

I hope she loves our yard as much as I have over the past 18 years. I'll miss my Mama Maple (pictured).

I'll be living in the Villages, Florida, as of November 4.

Casually mentioned playing armageddon while watching Matthew Colville YouTube videos on my Twitter, might have got some of my favorite D&D podcasters interested in giving it a shot 🙌🏻   :D

We got the old stove and sink out of my camper which leaves room to use an electric cooktop and so much more counter surface.  Not to mention a counter that actually matches with everything else I've done.  I'm so freaking excited!  I leave in two weeks and it's all coming together.

Not so much actively "happy" as..."greeting the opportunity with satisfaction, eagerness and drive."

I've recently been promoted to Assistant Manager in the Company for whom I work.  It was made very clear prior to my promotion that I would be transitioning into the Manager's position within a couple months and would have turn over during that time with my Boss, who would be moving out of state to take up a different Manager position for another part of the company as soon as he passed some State required testing and certifications.

Reality hit us all in the face, however, when an emergency situation came up last week and the Company Owners told him to get boots on the ground now and speed up his training, testing and certification passing ASAP.  I was tossed the keys, the Manager's phone, shown where the important paperwork was kept and told CC him in any e-mails but unless it's a dire emergency, the office and 12 employees are mine to handle.

Am I worried?  Not really.  This was pretty much the exact same sort of turn-over I'd come to expect and routinely deal with in the Air Force.  I'm eager to get going.  I've got interviews to do, employees to discipline/terminate, scheduling to beat into submission and annual reviews to write up/process.  I'm finally back into a position and responsibility load that I'm used to and it feel great.

I hit 50k words in NaNoWriMo recently.  Now I just need to finish the damn book ;D

Which is an adult a fantasy and only maybe 1/4 done.  And then I need to revise the last book.  And go on submission again.  And finish my new website and post a bunch of my short stories.  But never mind all that, I'm HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

My new laptop came in early, just in time for the weekend.

Time to see what a $4k machine will get me.

Today, the day after discovering I miscarried my very first attempt at having a baby, I really needed something to brighten my day. And something happened!

I belatedly noticed a reader comment on my web serial - it had been posted on December 19th but I never saw it until now, having been too busy with stuff.

"This is, In my humble opinion as a readers, reviewer and writer, one of the best serials available on the internet. I do not say this lightly.
Iíve read Anathema start to finish, and so thoroughly enjoyed it that it shocked me.
My one wish is that this story becomes better-known. It is amazing, and deserves the recognition that comes with that.
If you havenít already, consider porting this to RoyalRoad, and showing it to, well, hundreds of thousands of readers who travel the site every day. If even just one of them reads and enjoys this damn masterpiece, I will consider it a win.
Cheers, L."

Our youngest whom we adopted at birth and was born a month early FINALLY started to show some personality today!!

Before today, he would just cry half the time and look around.

Today though, we got him to smile and laugh quite a bit.  It was SOOOOO Encouraging!!

I got rid of my dependency on web apps as I still am finding my laptop being more powerful and useful than my phone. I think that will never change.

I'm sorry about your miscarriage Akaramu.  I hope you're well and I'd really like to read your writing.

As for myself, I'm incredibly happy because I start cosmetology school with the Aveda Institute next week.  An end to accounting and administrative drudgery is finally in sight in one mere year from now.  It's ironic, because I'm actually at a good point in my career with the HR/Accounting/Operations resume I've built but I've decided to switch it up because I have always found it so boring.  On top of that, I got a job at an upscale eye wear boutique that specializes in artisan glasses from Italy and such.  It works perfectly with my school schedule.  No late hours.  The crew there is delightful.  I get commission.  AND I get a free pair of like $800 glasses.  Life feels really, really good right now and I'm super fucking happy to do a totally new, creative career path.  Fuck yeah.

In the words of Aveda MPLS Alumni Jonathan Van Ness and one've the best guys on Queer Eye (okay they're all the best), "YES QUEEN!"  ;D ;D ;D

One of my mentees gave me a potted mini rose and told me that I'd taught her more about legal writing in two months than she had learned in college and law school combined.

Trying not to kill the rose will be its own issue.

This might be the sweetest thing to ever grace the GDB

On a side-note

Across the street from me there is an apartment that has a lovely garden, they plant all kinds of things and it blows up beautifully every summer.  This year however, there is a tiny little rose bush (more like a rose twig) with a full blossomed rose at the top that has withered and crumpled and yet clung tight right at the top, this entire winter season.  I still go out of my way to see it every day... no thats not true..  I take my favorite way to go every day just to see it.    ;)

That's really neat!

My rose hasn't died yet and in fact produced two more flowers from the half that wasn't literally "someone cut a rose branch and stuck it in the dirt to make this plant look better." It makes me happy.

After two long months, my husbands job FINALLY gave us some of our reimbursement after I had to pay for FOUR months worth of his hotel stays, and I no longer feel like we are drowning! Managed to pay off the two cards I used for his hotel stays completely, and soon we should also be getting the rest of our reimbursement and it is just such a relief!   :D

I'm not even mad that our eight month old woke up two and a half hours earlier than he normally does because for the first time in two weeks I also have coffee  ;D

You know I think if James simply retitled his thread "Cheese" and apologized for his first post being off-topic, all problems would be solved.

For three months, my office has a chili cook-off between two people on Wednesdays.  Well, one guy had a chili with hot dogs and buns on the side so you could have chili, OR a chili dog.  Yay for Options!!  He also had a baggy of chopped onions.  DELICIOUS!!

The other lady had green chili, which, to most of us in Nebraska, is NOT chili!!  First off, it's not Red.  Grrrr.....  It had pork, rice, and a handful of white beans plus something else.  No chili powder though!!  Another party foul!!  It was GOOD!!  But again, not chili.

Thirteen of us voted and when the votes were counted, the tally was 12-1.  Green Chili won.  Red Chili guy was going off about how he's never won in six years, blah blah blah.  Green Chili lady was asked and admitted that she didn't actually make her chili.  Her husband did.  WHAT?!?!  ANOTHER PARTY FOUL!!  (Not that I'm one to speak, but we won't go there)

The Colonel speaks up and tells Red Chili guy that he voted for him.  I admit out loud that I did too.  The person responsible for tallying votes?   His face lights up.  He did too.  It only takes him a moment, but he credited the wrong chili with the win.  Six year loser is now SUPER HAPPY!!  Green Chili girl just went from being the new office girl who was on top of the world with a landslide win, to the biggest loser!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The liquor store had a sign out in front advertising its featured wine of the week:

JACKED
Cabernet Sauvignon

with ruby notes of spice and tobacco

I thought "now that sounds like a wine worthy of Kurac".  I just cracked open the JACKED and it's quite nice.  :-)

Congratulations Fathi! That's crazy awesome!

Okay, so hopefully he doesn't see this before he comes home, but I got my husband the BEST surprise gift (He is underway right now). For over a year my husband has been bugging and bugging me to get a second dog. We have come close a few times, but either the dogs we looked at were on the restricted breeds list (which I hate so much, for example, I love pitt bulls -and there are soooo many of them in the shelter- but we can't have one because of where we live!) or they didn't do well with other dogs or small children. WELL I feel like it all worked out perfectly, because I ended up getting my husband his favorite dog breed instead, a male Cane Corso, aka an Italian Mastiff, puppy.

Last week my sister who lives four hours away from us announced on facebook that she got a puppy, and WHAT DO YOU KNOW?! She got a Cane Corso puppy, pure bred. So naturally I was super excited and jealous. Well on Monday morning I texted her asking more about how she got this puppy, if it was actually pure bred, how much she paid, if there were any left, etc. Turns out the person who had the puppies was my sister's husbands cousin. I found out there was one male left, but that he was spoken for. However the guy had not gotten back to her, nor made any effort to pay or come and get the puppy. I was told she was giving him until the end of the day to get back to her.  So allllllll day Monday I was antsy and texting my sister and going back and forth about how crazy I was to be home alone raising our almost ten month old, our crazy ass almost five year old boxer mix, and then ADDING a less then two month old puppy to the mix.

Well Monday night comes around and my sister texts me with a sad face, and I got really sad, then she said "He's all yours!" And I almost cried I was so excited. Then Tuesday morning I drove four hours to get this puppy, and hang out with my sister for a little bit. Then I drove four hours home with my son and the new puppy (who actually was so good once he got used to the car - as long as I was touching him). I have done a TON of research on this breed (even before I found out about my sister having an in with a litter of puppies), and will be training him and socializing him as soon he gets his shots. Right now we are working on crate training and potty training, and it's not so bad except the crying at night - thankfully he doesn't wake up the baby with his crying -only Bridgette and I have to suffer through that.

I cannot wait for my husband to get home and meet the newest addition to our family! I was trying to wait for him to email me back because I sneakily asked for Cane Corso name options. Hopefully he doesn't catch on. But I haven idea if he is even getting my emails or if I will get a response about it. So I am going with Romulus for his name, because I think my husband will like that. I literally could not pass up this opportunity to get my husband his dream dog!

TLDR; Got my husband a surprise puppy that is his favorite breed and can't wait for him to come home and find out!!

I also got him two boxes of thin mints to come home too as well.  ;D
