Heh.  Good luck.

The game expands the world on the fly (as people approach the borders of the generated world).  The theoretical maximum world size is supposed to be about 8x the surface area of the Earth.

Also, trees can grow.

I would love Zalanthas in Minecraft.
I would love to build Allanak in Minecraft.  Really, it could pretty much be done.  The landscaping would be extremely tedious, though.

If you guys want to make a replica Zalanthas on a server, toss me the details and tell me what to build and where, and I will help. Let's get Allanak, Luirs and Tuluk built, with the North Road (cobblestone? gravel?) linking them up.

We'd need to generate a map with lots of sand, though - my current map is about 85% desert with a giant, upside down mountain in the middle, but I doubt that it's a large enough desert to work. Can you specify what generates in a world? Ie, make a giant desert with some scrub trees up north?

Blargh, this game is addicting!!!  I should have slept first before downloading.

Heh, I'm down for working on a Zalanthan themed world.  Someone share details.  My world is pretty bland so far, and I'm a newb, so it isn't very Zalanthany.

I see no reason why, in general, it shouldn't be reasonably accurate. Most people know where Luirs, Allanak and Tuluk are relative to each other.

Aaron explained it to me for the longest time, but I still don't see what's so entertaining / addictive about it. I like to have goals, and dislike sandbox building. My DF fortresses were always ugly and functional. But the orc invasions were fun! And the training up of armies, and...

Yeah, I love Minecraft, but I'll love it even more when the survival part of it becomes more pervasive. You get to a point where the enemy mobs are more a nuisance than a danger.

Doesn't stop me from nearly shitting myself every a skeleton shoots at me during cave expeditions.

My problem is that when I jump, I accidentally mash the keyboard and (usually) set my render distance from tiny to far, which then lags me out.

I've been wanting to try to replicate Zalanthas in one of the map editing programs like MCedit or something. Might give that a try and see what happens.

Last time a skeleton shot at me I jerked my mouse so hard I then fell down an underground river and almost got landed on some lava  :P

My castle is awesome. It has a sky ramp from one castle to the other that cuts the trip down from one whole day to about two minutes or something.  There are massive underground caves everywhere.  I never want to leave this level.  But I do want to take a boat to some tropical islands I can see from the top of my mountaintop keep.

Zoltan agrees.  He just told me "Your stuff is impressive.  It's like epic when epicness is not easy."  I should post a screen shot at some point, but I always get lazy and forget because the game doesn't run when I'm on the GDB =(

I love Runecraft as well, but sometimes it seems like it'd be too easy to gain access to magick. Though, one rune changes the entire game from day to night.... so if someone were able to place the rune pattern high enough, without being noticed, and NOT get creepers spawned on them... I think they deserve to plunge the world into eternal darkness.

I downloaded the stuff to run a server, but I'm not very savy at it.  I'm trying to get it setup now.

Try connecting to 192.168.2.103.  IM me on AIM or MSN if it doesn't work.
That's your internal home (office?) network IP.  It won't work.   ;)

You need to get your external IP.  (http://www.whatsmyip.org/)

You'll also probably need to open up port 25565 on your firewall and forward it to your computer from your router.

Okay, you talked me into it.  Here's a server for Arm players (and their friends, family, and significant others) only: 24.19.220.244
