Harry Nilsson - Mournin' Glory Story
"You will have useful work: the destruction of evil men. What work could be more useful? This is Beyond; you will find that your work is never done -- So therefore you may never know a life of peace."

And whenever I listen to that song, I think of...

...Nicolas Guillen?

Fueron a cazar guitarras,
bajo la luna llena.
Y trajeron ésta,
pálida, fina, esbelta,
ojos de inagotable mulata,
cintura de abierta madera.
Es joven, apenas vuela.
Pero ya canta
cuando oye en otras jaulas
aletear sones y coplas.
Los sonesombres y las coplasolas.
Hay en su jaula esta inscripción:
Cuidado: sueña.”
A dark-shelled scrab pinches at you, but you dodge out of the way.
A dark-shelled scrab brandishes its bone-handled, obsidian scimitar.
A dark-shelled scrab holds its bloodied wicked-edged, bone scimitar.

Also, in a very different genre, I just learned of Jaydiohead (Jay-Z/Radiohead mashup), which I think might be a match made in musical heaven.

Ed Kowalczyk's new solo album - Alive

I love him, and especially Live. Whenever I hear ... , I have to get up and dance!

What happened to him and Live? I often heard when I was younger (too young) to go to any of their concerts, that he had alcohol problems, but I wasn't sure if that was a contributer to their break up or not! But god, yes, Ed's super talented!

I love Ed too... though from what I understand, he's a bit of a diva.  The band broke up and Ed is receiving 70% and each of the other members of the band are getting 10% for their past work.  I don't care, when you sing like that, be a diva.  :D  In listening to his solo album it sounds alot like Live, the lyrics must have been written 98% of the time by him because they follow suit.  The album does miss a bit of the hard guitar and drum beats that Live managed in songs like The Damn at Otter Creek, Freaks, Good Pain, TBD, Iris, Pain Lies on the Riverside, Pillar of Davidson, Shit Towne, The Beauty of Grey, White Discussion, Lakini's Juice, Freaks, Dolphin's Cry, etc.

And oh, I went to six of their concerts and cried at every one of them! *laugh*  I'm weird about music... a certain tone or series of tones, or just a chord can make me tear up like a big baby.
