Hlum nobles and the Grey Hunt

I've only just realised that the documentation does not include very much information about the Grey Hunt.

Since this is topical at the moment I'm posting the public version of the documentation here for reference. This would be information that northern pcs are likely aware of.

Note: There are specific IC circumstances that may have affect on some of the 'rules' for the hunt. More about that can be learnt in game.

Documentation wrote:
QuoteIn Year 19 of the 21st Age, the Tuluki Triumverate ruled to reinstate that treasured historical tradition of Old Tuluk, the Grey Hunt. This Hunt is held every seventh year, preparations for the next often beginning as soon as the previous one ends. Any human commoner of Tuluki birth can participate in the Grey Hunt, and the winner is given a lifetime grant of a Hlum noble title, as well as a stipend and a home suiting nobility.

Upon taking their Hlum title, the winner must give up any ties with other Houses or organizations. Hlums may continue to pursue whatever profession they had before they were granted their title, though they must do so as an independent.

Although Hlum nobles are born as commoners, they become entitled to the same benefits as a Chosen of a Surif noble house, and are bound by the same restrictions. Hlum nobles may marry into Surif Houses, or have romantic relationships with Surif nobles. Alternately, they may keep one commoner mate as Hlum consort, but otherwise they must give up all romantic liaisons with commoners, just as Surif nobles do. Unlike Surif nobles, they do not have any restrictions upon their travels, and may leave the city freely.

Hlum nobles form a small bloc in the noble third of the Triumverate, exerting less influence than the Surif Houses. However, they often have considerable sway with the common populace due to their background and contacts. Hlum nobles may further strengthen their influence by winning the Grey Hunt more than once.

Necro-ing an old post:

The current Grey Hunt began some time ago, but is still ongoing.  Details are in documentation and on IC boards in-game.  If you are a Northern PC, you should probably be interested in this competition.

After all, it's not every day your existing character has the chance to transcend their caste and become a noble.

With appropriate roleplay of course.
