Lolcats make me lol. I didn't think they would, but they do. Sort of like green eggs and ham.
Barzalene's words of wisdom have inspired me to start a new thread.

Hooray, finally a thread for LOLcats!  Have the urge to add a funny pic to a "serious" thread?  Post here instead!

Thread rules:

    1.  Not just for Lolcats, lolzombies, lolbots, lolbees and other funny pictures are welcome.

    2.  Custom made Armageddon-themed lolcats get bonus points.
(Points have no cash value and may not be redeemed for anything.)

3.  No dead, injured, flaming, or tortured animals.  You can find lots of pics like this, but even with a really great caption, these ruin the LOL for some people.  Dead humans may be acceptable, but only if they are zombies.

4.  Only worksafe images please.  Sticking a funny caption like "Open wide and say 'Ahhh'" onto goatse does not make it worksafe.

5.  Play nice.  Don't kill the LOL!!![/list]

Is it just me, or is it weird that people post their comments on www.icanhascheezburger.com as though they are an lol cat? o.O

It's not cute.  I'm just embarrassed for them.  It's retarded.

I know!  I can't even read the comments there anymore.  And what's worse, they are letting it drag down the quality of the images!  Woe.  A little misspelling and idiosyncratic conjugation adds to the funny, but some of the submissions that make it now are practically incomprehensible (except, presumably, to the lolspeak enthusiasts).

For example, I think all of these would be funnier if they toned down the "cute" misspelling:

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

Invisible Orchestra

Bleh.

At least the spelt "I" right.

This one is a real shame:

I tried to childproof condo, but they keep getting in.
They really reached for a way to misspell "childproof" and I think it hurt the joke.  If not for that, it could have been comedy gold.

Ugh.

Yes kitteh, it is embarrassing.

Sometimes I see one that's funny, but I'm reluctant to show some of my not-so-hip friends and family, because it will take them an embarrassingly long time to puzzle out the caption, and by then it won't be funny anymore.  Grr.  Oh well.

I love pictures. Every single one has a story behind it, and these are some of the most profound stills I've ever viewed. Looking at them brings tears to my eyes. I'll give a preface for each one.

Iraqi Insurgent calming his child down:

Man carrying his child:

Protestor ran over:

This one is particularly tragic. A soldier is shot by a sniper and falls into the arms of a priest, where he dies:

World hunger/Somalian child's hand within the palm of a missionary:

He never spoke a word or moved an inch during this protest:

Ah, something funny!

No. No one knows what happened to that guy afterwards.

I've got this as a poster hanging in my room, though.

I've heard several reports that he was indeed ran over. I guess it could be wrong, but are you sure?

I thought I remembered hearing a report on a news network that was reairing coverage of the protest a few years ago.

I'll add funny captions for FJ's photos if I'm promised that I won't be banned for life if I do so  :?
“When I was a fighting man, the kettle-drums they beat;
The people scattered gold-dust before my horse’s feet;
But now I am a great king, the people hound my track
With poison in my wine-cup, and daggers at my back.”

it with murder, betrayal, and corruption, instead of arguing about how combat isn't powerful enough.

It cheapens the act.

But I hope the bloody execution of tank's commander has saved the day. I mean, what's the point of driving a tank if you let some loser to stop a whole column.

Re: FJ's pics

as has been pointed out, the guy with the shopping bags wasn't run over. He just stopped the column for like 10 minutes and walked away. There's an interesting letter somewhere by that photographer. I wonder if I can find it.

Also, re: Man carrying his son

The older guy carrying the boy (Hector Peterson, age 12) is not his father, but a friend. The girl is his sister (17). The photo is from the Soweto youth riots in South Africa.
