Oh woe!  The last Odd Urges thread fell into the void.  But never fear, the Odd Urge-o-matic 4000 is here, with the latest nilaz-resistant polling technology!

A recent odd urge of mine: to play a someone's identical twin... without their knowledge or consent.

I've stated it on every odd urges thread since the first archaic one.

Name: Jareth
Sdesc: The effeminate, wild-platinum haired elf.
Guild: Sorceror/bard
Prince of the Labyrinth.
I tripped and Fale down my stairs. Drink milk and you'll grow Uaptal. I know this guy from the state of Tenneshi. This house will go up Borsail tomorrow. I gave my book to him Nenyuk it back again. I hired this guy golfing to Kadius around for a while.

Ooh. For double plus good points, do a Zalanthanized version of Alfred Borden in The Prestige.

I bemoan the loss of RSE. To that end:

Organize a tribe of dwarves whose sole purposes in life are to rebuild RSE. Bigger, better, stronger. (But not faster - no one likes mobile buildings, except wagons). And then, to build an ARMADA of super-corsair ultra-deadly silt skimmers to take 'war reparations' for those giants.
There is no general doctrine which is not capable of eating out our morality if unchecked by the deep-seated habit of direct fellow-feeling with individual fellow-men. -George Eliot

To pick PC names from GDB handles of other people.

"Hi, my name is CRW."

Double points if you pick a staffer's GDB handle.

Tripple points if you pick the title too:

"Hi, I am Sanvean the Enigmatic."

"I am Vanth Deathherald." (even better if you start a kid as Dented vanth mobile, and later as your character gets adult you change it to Vanth Deathherald.)

Nessalin is quadrupple points alone.
some of my posts are serious stuff

ran into a character with a GDB name the other day. Don't think it was played by the GDBer, either, and it's a relatively unique name, no google hits except to these forums.

I once apped a character named Adira, oblivious to the existence of our very own Adhira. She even got approved. Thinking back on it, I wonder how many people she (my char) met in game were like, "wtf?"

During very intense, pivotal moments I get an immature urge with my current PC. Sometimes I want to make him just let one rip. You know, a really terrible fart. You can paint it up anyway you want IC, but a well-timed fart during a scene can just ruin it. It's probably a good thing I don't play under the influence.

Code: [Select]

While strutting and gesturing about the cave/tomb/sekret MUDsexxx pit, the Very Bad Man says to you, in sirihish:
"Ha! Now, as Whira shrieks and bloody Jihae doth glow, I shall be able to enact my insidious (and genius) plan!"

The blonde, hawt woman gasps and cringes, backing away slowly in awe of the Very Bad Man.

A nauseatingly wet *riiiiip* noise emanates from the rear of the tall, muscular man's pants.

The tall, muscular man shrugs slightly, a sheepish grin on his lips as his eyes dart between the blonde, hawt woman and the Very Bad man.

Bam! A great scene ruined, just like that! I wonder if it's possible to get negative karma points...

I got the urge to call someon a he-she. Their character was a female, but when you assess them, it says "-He- blah blah blah".

Code: [Select]
>drop pants
You do not have that item.

jhunter is Armageddon's farting expert.
I once learned from his ways while on guard duty, protecting the couch where my noble charge and a female noble friend of his were sitting down.  And then it happened.  My charge did his IC best to ignore it, whereas the female noble was horrified, shocked and gasping desperately for air.  Unfortunately, the MUD crashed for like a day and a half after that, so the scene never reached any conclusions.
The fart was probably one of the reasons why that beloved character of mine was eventually executed -- but it was worth it.

As for naming characters after Nessalin - I met a 'rinthi named Ness once.  It took barely two IC days until I got a send from staff telling me that "The character named Ness is named Nessa.  She has always been named Nessa".
True, it was an added step in the Evil direction, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to name their character after Nessalin.  Halaster maybe, but not Nessalin.

My latest odd urge has been to make a Nilazi and create exotic puppet shows and full-blown theatre plays.

App a merchant in the North.
Become proficient in crafting wagons.
Develop an interest in crafting a two-wheeled apparatus for personal transport.
Try to push this apparatus into the Poet's Circle as a viable purchase for all bards.

Market it as the "minstrel cycle."

Okay, the minstrel cycle had me snorting my soup out my nose.

The problem is, there was a large quantity of habanero hot sauce in that soup, and now my sinuses are burning with the fury of a thousand hells.

Thanks a lot, Tarx.

Char?

App a krathi yompar named Charmander.  Ah the looks on those hunters faces:

The reddish scaled yompar begins uttering an incantation.

The reddish scaled yompar burninates you!
