can someone give me directions on how to find the armageddon irc? i searched old threads and couldnt find anything. thanks in advance.

Look for any recent post from "John." He has a link in his tagline leading you to directions for getting into IRC.

I haven't checked the directions, so it should refer you to "sorcery.net" once you open up your irc client and connect. It might refer you to an old network which is no longer used since it got hacked and stabbed to death a couple of months ago.

sorcery.net
#armageddonmud
Varak:You tell the mangy, pointy-eared gortok, in sirihish: "What, girl? You say the sorceror-king has fallen down the well?"
Ghardoan:A pitiful voice rises from the well below, "I've fallen and I can't get up..."

the link on john's post doesnt work...

Directions for getting to the IRC room:

Download an IRC client appropriate for your platform.
If you are running Windows, this would be mIRC - http://www.mirc.com
If you are runnng something on a Mac, Ircle - http://www.ircle.com
If you are running *nix, BitchX - http://www.bitchx.org

After downloading and installing whichever is appropriate for you, it might do well to investigate the documentation for them, understand how to use them, and the like.  Open up your client, and it will probably have a space to fill out your email address, real name, and a nickname.  The nickname is the handle you will use on IRC - try to pick something original, or something that matches your GDB name so we know who you are.  You do not have to put a real email address or real name, but those fields DO need something in them.

Then, your client will either a) automatically connect  to a server, b) allow you to select a server from a drop down list, or c) sit there.

For A and C, type /server irc.sorcery.net 9000 and it will take care of things for you, connecting.  For B, simply select Sorcery NET from the list.  If it's not listed, you can either add it with the address above (irc.sorcery.net 9000) or you can connect to anything and type the same /server command.

Once in, type /join #armageddonmud and you're set!  You'll be in there, and anything further will be sent to the channel, unless prepended with a / (the command symbol).  Enjoy, and please remember that though the IRC room is *not* staffed by immortals, you should still maintain the same level of integrity you would if it were.  That is, please do not engage in pointless flaming, and please do not spread IC information.

[Laeris] (11:52:53 AM): If penicillin started spilling out of your butt, what would you do with it?

Hmmm. The thread I was linking to must of gotten deleted.

Could this thread be archived seeings how it crops up often enough?
