So far I have managed to succesfully create 0 items out of salvaged scraps, in 25-30ish attempts. Do you need to actually have clothworking/leatherworking/whatevermaking skills to do it or is it just meant to be this hard?

Suggestion:
I think that you shouldn't have to have a craft skill to make these sort of items... they're all pretty simple, and I think anyone could make them.

How about this:
When in quick need of a bandage, you could use this.

Code: [Select]
>craft cloth into a makeshift bandage

primitive, makeshift, bandage

a primitive, makeshift bandage

a folded piece of cloth has been left here

A long scrap of cloth, torn from the corner of a cloak or a shirt, has been folded in half to make a crude bandage. It is dull and faded in colour, and it is quite dirty. It's corners are frayed and tattered. While not the best choice, it could be used to quickly, if not desperately, bind a wound.

cloth

0

usable as a bandage, wearable everywhere

Lavalamps,
There are various items that when you 'salvage' them, you will get scraps of cloth.

Ex:
Code: [Select]
salvage cloak

Oh, and when listing keywords, list the 'primary' keyword first...

For example:
Code: [Select]
bandage, primitive, makeshift

Craftable from scraps based either on archery skill (not bowcrafting) or available to all (likely only people with archery would bother).

Code: [Select]
>craft leather into a crude sling

sling, crude

a crude leather sling

A crude leather sling lies on the ground here

Merely a strip of leather with the faint outline of a pocket worn into it, this sling is no great work of art.  With a little luck or a lot of skill, it might just serve the purpose of hurling a rock.  The leather it is made from is worn and uneven, and no great accuracy could be expected.

leather

0

wieldable as a sling, wearable wrist, ankle, on belt

Accuracy penalty compared to purchased slings

Coinpouchs, they exist in game. You don't use them, do you?

Code: [Select]
>craft cloth into crude coinpouch

crude, coin, pouch, coinpouch

A crude coinpouch lies on the ground here.

This pouch, lacking any apparent stitching, was tied into itself multiple times to create this small pouch. The cloth is tattered and seems to be torn in multiple places.

cloth

0

hangable on belt

5 stones

Now, DON'T LET IT DIE.

I have to many salvaged items and you people are slacking off with helping the staff figure out what to do with them... lazy elves...

And as the pouch is used, it could disintegrate, the rips widen, and begin to drop a coin every few rooms...

Obsidian shards gained from junking to be used as arrow heads, spear heads, and perhaps small arms, a good way to piece in a lot of the uncraftable obsidian weapons of the smaller variety.

Nice necro.

P.S. All of these are already possible with appropriately-sized shards of obsidian and the appropriate skill.
