The Lucky Ghaati Seating
« on: November 20, 2005, 10:38:00 PM »
The other day there was a crowd of six in the Ghaati and it brought to my mind that we could do with additional tables in the Ghaati.  Or at least one additional table on the terrace that could accomodate say.. eight places.

Right now, I think that, at times, we are avoiding the Ghaati once we have a bunch of people to entertain and that is a shame.

Thoughts?

Moving to the Submissions forum in case anyone would like to write up 203 table descriptions, all made of northern hardwoods.

Hah!

I can't be sure, but I think she meant 2-3. A much less daunting task.

table long vine etched baobab

a long, vine-etched baobab table by the wall

A long, vine-etched baobab table has been set by the wall.

This tall, purplish brown baobab table has six sturdy legs,
their ends carved to look like gurths rolled inside their
spiky shells.  The table is ten cords long, and many
belshun vines have been carved on its surface, some of them
curling lightly under the weight of a life-sized belshun
fruit, also carved into the wood.

table beige square

a square, beige table

There is a square, beige table standing here.

This is small and finely-made table is made out of smooth,
beige jallal planks, the zigzag carvings employed to keep
the slender planks from falling apart still visible on its
surface.  The table is sanded smooth and is plain, though
not unpleasing, in appearance.

table black tregil carved

a black, tregil-carved table

A black table, tregils carved on its surface, is here.

This small but high wooden table is made of a black-painted
hardwood, which doesn't seem capable of seating more than
two humans comfortably.  It is round, and carefully
smoothed to avoid any sharp edges.  Several fist-sized
tregils have been carved masterly into the tabletop,
revealing its natural grey hue. Three straight and
unadorned legs hold up this table.

Not the best tables ever, but I reckon these could do.  If anyone wants to improve on any of them, by all means, go ahead.

Thanks, I'll get on these over the weekend.

I think a round table with pillows on the floor might be nice, since the Lucky Ghaati's main description says that there are round tables on the floor.  At least, it did when I was last there.  But when you look at the tables, they are all square with chairs.

When Nidhogg introduced the furniture changes 'culture', it was basically said that Tuluk would prefer the high and massive tables while Allanak would be more about the low tables and cushions.

I'm not sure whether this remains, but I adhere to it anyway.
