"Flee the Mekillot" is a gambling game. One player is the Mekillot, and the rest are called Grebbers, Mercenaries, or whatever such pleases the particular crowd playing. :)
An ante is determined. Each Grebber antes up, and the Mekillot matches each ante. So, for example, if the ante was 10 coins and there were three Grebbers, each Grebber would put in ten coins and the Mekillot thirty coins.
Play is conducted with a pair of numbered dice. The Grebbers' goal is to reach the city gates (a tally of 50 or higher) before the Mekillot does.
Each Grebber rolls twice, adding the two rolls. That is their head start. The Mekillot and then the Grebbers each roll in turn after that. However, the Mekillot adds one to each roll! If the Mekillot reaches the same or higher tally as a Grebber, the Grebber is eaten and eliminated from the game!
At the end, the Mekillot receives two antes worth of coins for each Grebber eaten. The surviving Grebbers divide the rest.
An example game with two Grebbers and an ante of 10. the salt (pot) is 40 coins:
Grebber 1 rolls 8, and then 12. Off to a good start, tally of 20!
Grebber 2 rolls 5, and then 8. Tally of 13.
The Mekillot rolls 11 + 1 is 12. Tall of 12. Grebber 2 is already in trouble.
Grebber 1 rolls 8, tally of 28.
Grebber 2 rolls 6, tally of 19.
The Mekillot rolls 3 + 1 is 4, tally of 16. Grebber 2 is still alive!
Grebber 1 rolls 5, tally of 33.
Grebber 2 rolls 3, tally of 22. Uh oh.
The Mekillot plods along with a 3 + 1 is 4, tally of 20. Closing in!
Grebber 1 rolls 6, tally of 39.
Grebber 2 rolls 9, tally of 31.
The Mekillot rolls 5 + 1 is 6, tally of 26.
Grebber 1 rolls 8, tally of 47. Almost home!
Grebber 2 rolls 6, tally of 37.
The Mekillot rolls 7 + 1 is 8, tally of 34.
Grebber 1 rolls 4, tally of 51! Safe!
Grebber 2 rolls 11, tally of 48.
The Mekillot rolls 11 + 1 is 12, tally of 46.
Grebber 2 rolls 7, tally of 55, and scoots home.
Since the Mekillot ate no one in this game, the two Grebbers divided the salt, receiving 20 coins each.

+1

Adds one dice to the pool rolled per turn for mekillot or literally one?

Adds one dice to the pool rolled per turn for mekillot or literally one?
I'd suggest per turn for the mekillot, so that it shows their slowmovingbuthighspeed chase. By the end he is getting a +4 or +5 so he has a better chance of getting to a Grebber.

Who would want to play the mek?

Who would want to play the mek?
Do you mean from a gambler's point of view? Someone here actually wrote a computer program to simulate 10,000 games. It turns out that the Mek has the advantage with the city gates set to 50. The break even point is actually 42 (tiny Grebber advantage) or 43 (tiny Mek advantage).
If the Mek catches half of the Grebbers, the player of the Mek makes his/her ante back. More and the Mek profits.

Literally one to each roll the Mek makes. That's all that's needed for the Mek to catch up half of the time!

Looks fun, can't wait to try it in game.

And here I thought the point of gambling was so that the House's odds are always in favor!
