That pesky # tag... can -anyone- show me an emote that uses it in a way that is gramatically correct for both 3rd and 2nd person viewers?

The problem seems to be with the verb, not the pronoun.  For example, typing

> emote taps ~man as #man passes.

Will display as

<Your sdesc> taps the badly-drawn man on the shoulder as he passes.

except to the badly-drawn man, who will see it as

<Your sdesc> taps you on the shoulder as you passes.

The problem is in the conjugation of the verb "pass".  In this example, in the second person, the verb should appear as "pass", but to everyone else, as "passes."  There doesn't seem to be a way around the problem, unfortunately.

Agreed.  I stay away from # emotes unless absolutely necessary and then the subject of the # emote has to just deal with seeing 'where you is sitting' or something similar.

Granted, I rarely use the # tag in emotes, but it can be used correctly for past tense actions.

For example:

So-and-so passes you a bottle of Templar's Wrath.

:with a wry smile, @ nods to ~so-and-so, taking the bottle that #so-and-so passed.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Ah, past tense!  Very good, I stand corrected.

Wow, that -is- very good.  Past tense, I'll have to remember that....  usually what I do, is guestimate how many people will see it one way and how many the other way.  And I pick the one that jars less people.

So I'll do ":winks at ~woman as #woman smile" if I think I'm alone, and
":winks at ~woman as #woman smiles" if I'm in a crowd.  The target gets, "winks at you as you smiles" but everyone else sees the right thing.

I spit on your English grammar. We should have the game in Russian. It would definetly be more fun and more violent.

For someone who is fluent in Russian, all I have to say is Suka Skatina.
