Guidelines For Recruiting Through Player Announcements

Consolidated rules all in one post.

Family Rules:

  • This must be a family role.  No tribes.  No clans.  Even if it's a clan that cannot recruit IC, no.  Contact your clan staff if you feel that your clan needs more players.
  • Only four (4) PC members are allowed per family--and not just four alive at one time, but four PCs, total.  This includes your PC.
  • All family members must be blood relatives and of the same race.  The only exception for this is for half-elves (this is not carte blanche for loving half-elf family applications).
  • You may only play one member of a given family.  If your PC family member dies, you cannot create another character that is a part of that family.
  • Include information about your family in your initial background.  For instance, if someone is creating a PC sibling, be sure to include that information in your initial background.  This would indicate that it is better to determine your family prior to making your character rather than after you're already playing it.  We understand that sometimes new family comes on board after you have already applied, but include all those you know about at the time of application.
  • Notify staff in advance of making your PC that you will be recruiting for a family.
  • Please do not post an announcement in "Player Announcements" on the GDB without approval from staff on your family application.

Alright, you've read the rules.  What does staff need from you for your family application?

Log in to the request tool here:  http://www.armageddon.org/request/
Select "Role Application" under the heading "Clan Related" in the request tool.

Include the following information about your family:

  • How many PC family members total you plan on including (remember, never more than four)
  • How large the family is including virtual members
  • What family members you plan on opening to the player population (e.g. you want someone to play the father, someone to play the daughter, someone to play the daughter's half-elven child. These can of course change as players take an interest in different roles and/or you do not have specifics in mind, but it never hurts to have a preliminary plan. Plus, it helps you flesh out the family dynamic.)
  • Where the family will generally be located and what they generally do (e.g. Tuluki woodcarvers, 'nakki 'sid-miners, even if the PCs won't necessarily be such)
  • Anything else you feel the staff should know

A final suggestion:  It is greatly encouraged to keep all communication other than the original setup completely IC, and for all characters to keep in-depth bios chronicling their relationships with the family.

With appropriate roleplay of course.

You may also find this under the helpfile "Family Roles."

Just a quick note to make this process go a bit smoother.  The person organizing the family, please pass out the request number from your request to each of the people joining it and ask them to put the request number at the end of their background when they submit their character application.  Ex:  **Reference Request #12345**
Ourla:  You're like the oil paint on the canvas of evil.
